QAL’s award-winning and patented BackPack® Roll-Fed Extended Content Label (ECL) is an innovative product designed to solve label space issues for roll-fed (unsupported film) labeled products.
Ideal for adding multiple languages, including GHS and regulatory content, or achieving marketing objectives with instant redeemable coupons (IRCs), these multi-panel, multi-ply construction ECLs offer near-limitless flexibility.
Roll-Fed Extended Content Labels are multi-page, resealable booklet labels crafted from durable roll-fed unsupported films. These labels are designed to fully wrap around cylindrical containers like aerosol cans. Ideal for high-speed, high-volume production, they offer a seamless solution for applications requiring additional content without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.
QAL’s R&D team took special attention in the design of this product to ensure a seamless transition from standard roll-fed labels to the BackPack® Roll-Fed ECL. These labels apply on existing roll-fed application equipment without modification or reduction in line speed.
QAL’s BackPack® Roll-Fed ECL is a proud achievement in label solutions. We designed a high-quality and reliable format for extended label space. Tested and award-winning, this product meets both regulatory compliance and market demands, offering robust, multi-panel formats ideal for products with detailed instructions or multi-language needs.
Our resealable ECLs are constructed from high-quality BOPP films, UV inks, and proprietary adhesives and coatings, allowing consumers to peel back and reseal the label repeatedly. This robust combination results in a label that is chemical and water-resistant allowing it to hold up in a wide range of use environments including industrial markets.
The 3-page construction adds a layer of unsupported film to a standard roll-fed label resulting in three printable surfaces securely held together with a hinge and proprietary system of adhesives and coatings for repeated use and reliability
Depending on the amount of space required for additional content, brand owners and packaging engineers may choose the degree of label opening. Typical constructions are 180-degrees, where only the back panel (back of the can) opens. Or, when there is a need to fully optimize the available labeling space, 350-degree page opening allows for 200% more content area as compared to a standard roll-fed label.
Most often used for aerosol can labeling, the QAL Roll-Fed ECL can be engineered for straight side or neck-in cans.
Our 2-sided option offers brand owners an option to increase the label content area by 100% without adding additional material to the standard roll-fed label. Proprietary coatings allow this label to open and reseal at the label-overlap revealing printed content on the back side (exposing the product’s container when opened). This cost-effective option is ideal for GHS or lengthy use instructions utilizing the material space you are already buying.
Roll-Fed ECLs are utilized by a variety of industries, including but not limited to:
Differentiate your products with durable, visually appealing roll-fed labels. Perfect for aerosol items such as air fresheners and pest control products, these labels resist water, chemicals, and wear, ensuring they remain intact and legible.
Manufactured using chemical and water-resistant materials, roll-fed labels are ideal for the high-speed labeling and rigorous usage demands of aerosol pest control products.
Enhance shelf appeal with labels that are moisture-resistant and capable of withstanding temperature variations. These labels are typically used for beverage packaging.
Perfect for products such as paints and industrial coatings, these roll-fed labels are built to withstand tough use and filling conditions, maintaining legibility and brand aesthetic.
Currently the BackPack® Roll-Fed ECL is offered in two constructions. A double sided 2-page label and 3-page booklet label.
